Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card - I've read the synopsis and it doesn't really sound like something I would enjoy (some critics call to attention justification of violence perpetrated by Ender, and I don't really like military SF), but so many other clinics have praised it that I intend to at least attempt it.

Oh, fun one! :) Though I'll be weak on Sci-Fi and the classics.

Much agreement re: Diana Gabaldon. I always meant to get around to them, but with her attitude - it's just not worth it.
