So I've been thinking about how there are people out there who make Magnificent Seven icons, but there are very few who also create larger sized graphics, such as banners/headers, collages and wallpapers.

The recent BigBang showed that very clearly. We had to open up artist sign ups for people who were participating as writers, and then on top of that, have the artists create art for two writers. All of them rose to the occasion, but it wasn't an easy task. I'd like to see more artists participate in the next BigBang - which we will hopefully have. (I'd also like to see fanmixers, but that's a whole 'nother topic.)

For that purpose I've created a comm, mag7wallpapers, and I'd like to invite all Mag7 fanartists to think about expanding to larger sized graphics - not necessarily wallpapers - and start posting in the comm. I intend to eventually post all my graphics there, to have them all in one location on Dreamwidth. There's nothing much there at the moment, but you're more than welcome to join. :)

I'm awake at an ungodly hour, because I'm having pre-exam jitters. I finished my database yesterday, and my exam is tomorrow.

So I've been trying to cure my jitters by making some new art. Yes, I made something new, and all I needed was a challenge of providing Magnificent Seven banners for the 2009 Recathon. I made eight total: one for each of the boys, and one of all seven.

I present to you, for your viewing pleasure:... )

Yesterday I got my laptop back, which means I will now be able to finish my last banner. Once I do that, I'll post all four of them here.

First, fannish happy-happy thoughts: )

Now, personal joy-joy feelings: )

I figured I should put this behind a cut since it got kinda long...

Hi there!

I haven't been posting much lately, but that's due to depression over being separated from my laptop :sniff: - it has all my graphic programs, which means I can't make any new wallies and banners. I have no idea when I will get it back, or if they'll just give me another one instead.

But, even though my desktop is too overcrowded with other programs, I decided to do something about finishing the two banners I promised. I found that GIMPshop is a lightweight program similar enough to Photoshop that I won't be completely lost trying to use it. I installed it today when I got back from work and have been poking and prodding it, getting to know the layout. It still feels a bit awkward, but I prefer spending some time learning about it, and then using it while I wait for my laptop to come back from the shop, then just sit around twirling my thumbs.

Moving on: I've been trying to find a way to post a world clock widget to [livejournal.com profile] 7men1destiny as a sort of a sticky note, but it seems I can't post backdated entries in a non-personal journal. Therefore I'm posting the link here for [livejournal.com profile] quietcontrary to use and see if she can do it instead. You could then use it to choose your location and see what time the rewatch starts in your part of the world (and dang I wish I could participate more!). Anybody's free to use the code for their own pages as well.

The link to the page is World Clock.

Under Get Widget, click on More, and choose code for LiveJournal. It can't be pasted into the sidebar, only in an entry. Still, when you're dealing with timezones, it's a great tool. It would be ideal if they could make it smaller and fit into the sidebar, but LJ has javascript restrictions in place.

That's all for now, and I hope I'll be posting the banners soon - as well as some new artwork!

I recently volunteered to make ficathon banners for anyone who wanted one. In a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] quietcontrary, I formulated these guidelines, and I thought I should put them up on my page for everyone to have as a reference. I am also going to include a progress bar, even though I have only four banners so far. You can find the guidelines under the cut:

Ficathon banners:

That's 4 out of 4 or 100%; I finished it!

Whew, that was a long time to do four banners! In my defense, I can only say that it was my computer's fault, honest. And the schedule. That took away too much of my time.

I think that about covers it. Feel free to send me the request, and I'll let you know when I'm finished!
