So I've been thinking about how there are people out there who make Magnificent Seven icons, but there are very few who also create larger sized graphics, such as banners/headers, collages and wallpapers.

The recent BigBang showed that very clearly. We had to open up artist sign ups for people who were participating as writers, and then on top of that, have the artists create art for two writers. All of them rose to the occasion, but it wasn't an easy task. I'd like to see more artists participate in the next BigBang - which we will hopefully have. (I'd also like to see fanmixers, but that's a whole 'nother topic.)

For that purpose I've created a comm, mag7wallpapers, and I'd like to invite all Mag7 fanartists to think about expanding to larger sized graphics - not necessarily wallpapers - and start posting in the comm. I intend to eventually post all my graphics there, to have them all in one location on Dreamwidth. There's nothing much there at the moment, but you're more than welcome to join. :)

So I've been working on my [ profile] m7land character poster for the past few days, but haven't been able to concentrate on it much. We've all been waiting to hear about whether the president of our university would be extradited to Serbia on false accusations of war crimes. Not surprisingly, all charges were dropped and he returned home yesterday. The case had already been reviewed and dismissed by the Hague Tribunal, and now the UK judge in charge of the proceedings, a District Judge Timothy Workman, ruled the same, stating that: "These proceedings are brought and are being used for political purposes and as such amount to an abuse of process of this court." My colleagues who were present report that the Serbian prosecutors were dressed down by the judge for wasting the British taxpayers' time and money. The cost of the trial was estimated to be several hundred thousand pounds.

I finally finished the poster this evening, unfortunately too late to qualify for the challenge, so I'm posting it here instead. I created it to look somewhat like a movie poster, and I had to take screencaps myself, since there are very few good Nathan screencaps out there.

This is something I feel should be rectified, and once I find the time, I will try to upload at least some of the screencaps I took.

Yay, I won the Group Wallpaper competition over at [ profile] m7land! I envisioned Jock Steele coming up with the title for his dime novel. :)

I'll be eternally grateful to whoever comes up with a cure for insomnia. I tried everything, but nothing seems to work. I finally got up, turned on my computer and started fiddling with Photoshop. The result is below:

...which was supposed to be posted last night, but I didn't finish it until after midnight. I have others to post, but they're still WiPs. They will see the light of day eventually.

My second NaBloPoMo. This is cutting it close, right?

I have two wallpapers for you tonight. I haven't spent too much time on them, as I just wanted to create something. It took maybe 35 minutes, and I usually spent an hour or more on a single wallpaper.

The Past. Sarah and Adam are important to Chris, so I thought it was time for them to get their own wallpaper.

I just entered the [community profile] fanart50 challenge here on Dreamwidth! I know, I must be crazy, with all the stuff that's happening now. But I couldn't help myself!

I am really looking forward to doing this! It will be quite a challenge, similar to what I have going on [community profile] 7men1destiny, but not quite since this is strictly fanart, and the fact that I'm going to draw the boys (and maybe even some of the townspeople). It will probably be a year-long project.

I'm going to be posting the results here, with notices on LJ about any new drawings I upload. Any comments should be left here, just so I liven this place up a little.

OK! First, the wallpaper:

Then, the question: Is anybody else having trouble accessing [ profile] 7men1destiny? I posted an entry, and now I can't open the page. It keeps loading and loading, but never actually loads. I can open the entry, but not the front page.

Yep, I have finally posted them! Comments are welcome, feel free to download to your computers and share the Mag7 love.

The first one I called First Look, since it is about the first glimpse Vin and JOsiah have of Maude:

I am finally uploading a new wallpaper.

It was something I had planned to do for the [ profile] hgx texture/fanart contest, but that's been over a year ago. Good Lord, I just checked my tags; according to them, my last wallpaper was the Chaucer one, on 15th-Mar-2008 01:20 pm. Eek! [ profile] egorstandish was suffering from a writer's block, and I was suffering from the fanartist's one!

Anyway, it's a "Serpents" wallpapers, and I'll be spamming the comms, notifying them of my latest grand achievement (:snort: picture Buck saying "Yeah, right!" to jailed Ezra in ODOW). (^_^)

All joking aside, hope you'll like it!

All the best, Aida

Oh, hey, and happy birthday to Tony!

NaBloPoMo theme this month is Giving (Up). While I probably won't be participating this time, I was intrigued enough to actually start making something new. Plus, I have gift graphics I need to do (I haven't forgotten, honest! I've just been dreadfully busy).

I've been itching to do some more fanart, it's just been a matter of finding the time and inspiration. While I probably won't post every single day, I'll try to do it as often as possible. This journal should become a lively place pretty soon (and it's been long overdue).

As always, you're welcome to take whatever you like. The only graphics I will post under a friends lock will be the gift graphics.

Right now, I'm tired. :off to bed:

Hi there!

I haven't been posting much lately, but that's due to depression over being separated from my laptop :sniff: - it has all my graphic programs, which means I can't make any new wallies and banners. I have no idea when I will get it back, or if they'll just give me another one instead.

But, even though my desktop is too overcrowded with other programs, I decided to do something about finishing the two banners I promised. I found that GIMPshop is a lightweight program similar enough to Photoshop that I won't be completely lost trying to use it. I installed it today when I got back from work and have been poking and prodding it, getting to know the layout. It still feels a bit awkward, but I prefer spending some time learning about it, and then using it while I wait for my laptop to come back from the shop, then just sit around twirling my thumbs.

Moving on: I've been trying to find a way to post a world clock widget to [ profile] 7men1destiny as a sort of a sticky note, but it seems I can't post backdated entries in a non-personal journal. Therefore I'm posting the link here for [ profile] quietcontrary to use and see if she can do it instead. You could then use it to choose your location and see what time the rewatch starts in your part of the world (and dang I wish I could participate more!). Anybody's free to use the code for their own pages as well.

The link to the page is World Clock.

Under Get Widget, click on More, and choose code for LiveJournal. It can't be pasted into the sidebar, only in an entry. Still, when you're dealing with timezones, it's a great tool. It would be ideal if they could make it smaller and fit into the sidebar, but LJ has javascript restrictions in place.

That's all for now, and I hope I'll be posting the banners soon - as well as some new artwork!

Hi there!

I'm sorry I've been away for so long, but things haven't been that great for me lately.  I was only able to make one new wallpaper - of Chaucer (and Ezra), no less! - and a variation of the Ezra DVD wallpaper.

The credit for Chaucer's name goes to Kristin, and I've read so many NotTasha's stories with him in them that that's how I see him.

The other one is, like I said, a variation of Ezra's wallpaper.  Since his was the first one I made, and since the other boys got nice quotes and little pictures at the bottom of the wallpaper, I thought I should rectify that oversight:

(PS - There's another one in the gallery, not much difference, just some extra text.  You will also find two more old ones of Ezra in "Serpents".)

Like always, comments are welcome!
valiha: watercolor painting of my cat Lola (Default)

Well,  like I promised, here are the wallpapers of Vin:

and Josiah:

Hope you'll like these two as much as you liked Ezra and Chris!

valiha: watercolor painting of my cat Lola (Default)
These wallpapers were made using the stills I took from the second season of the Magnificent Seven.  A friend of mine went to the UK, and got them for me as a gift!

I don't know if the UK version is any different from the US version.  I think I read somewhere that the back of the DVD has a short sinopsis of each episode - that is absent on my DVD.  If there's someone who has the US version, I'd be willing to upload the scan and compare notes.

On to the wallpapers: I made two so far, one Ezra, and the other one Chris.

So, here's Ezra:

and Chris:

So, are they cool or what? ;)

Oh, and BTW, there were people who were looking for the color version of that Ezra picture.  Well, here it is, so anybody who wants it, can take it and crop it.

That's all, folks!
valiha: watercolor painting of my cat Lola (Default)
I don't believe you guys ever saw this wallpaper, right?

It's something I made in honor of my three favorite shows: the Magnificent Seven, the Invisible Man and Star Trek in all of its various incarnations.

valiha: watercolor painting of my cat Lola (Default)
I come bringing gifts, though they have nothing to do with Halloween.  I've been very busy, making wallpapers, and since I've neglected my darlin' Ezra in the past, this is my chance to rectify it.

You'll find plenty of wallpapers in my journal, just follow the link and leave comments if you like them.

Much obliged!

Here's one that looks like a hardcover:

And one for all the Mary fans:

valiha: watercolor painting of my cat Lola (Default)
Well, here's another one, a lot sooner than I thought.  There are actually two, but both of them are a variation on a topic.  I found some neat Photoshop actions and decided to try them out.  It seems I'm on a roll these days, since I keep getting ideas that I'd like to apply to more and more wallpapers.  For one thing, [profile] idrilelendil inspired me to make my own version of the "There are two kinds of people" speech from the pilot, and that will be my next post (hopefully soon).  In the meantime, here are the wallpapers:

Dear all,

I made two more wallpapers of  my favorite Mag7 boys, one of my BrigaDear General and his confrontation with Nathan in "Working Girls",

and the other about Vin, called "Lonesome rider"
