I decided to install the Stylish extension and this userscript because I was getting fed up looking at the blinking icons every time I went to the home page to upload a pic to Scrapbook or do some layout tweaks, and noticed in one of the comments a question of why the English version of LJ doesn't have a nice layout like the Russian LJ. I clicked on the link provided.

Lo and behold.

It looks so... modern. And it shows you your stats! Why can't we get something like that? Or at least an option for us to customize the main page according to our needs. I know that not everyone uses it, but I do, since that's where all the links to layout management and customization are, and that's my starting point for working as a mod - managing the comm, members, posts waiting for moderation in the queue, invitations...

I hate having to look at all that crap they've piled on the page, even if it's for the time it takes me to go somewhere else. I had to enable Cyrillic services just so I wouldn't have to look at it while signed in. :(

Well yeah, there's a link to manage communities. When I go there, it shows me what comms I mod, and actions I can take. All the links are in a sidebar to the left (depending on the site layout you choose) and yes, they're visible from my profile, but I rarely go there. :) The main page is my point of entry. That was my Speed Dial bookmark, as it had things I found useful (said journal comments, because I could not rely on email notifications at all times - they often break down).

Frankly, it bothers me that ONTD is visible both while you are logged out and logged in, but would at least like an option where I could turn it off when I sign in. It just drives me crazy with all the blinking icons and inappropriate content that LJ made such a fuss about but is now apparently endorsing. There are 35 pages and 2943 comments on the latest news post advertising "Homepage enhancements", most of them protesting the "enhancements" :snort:, and plenty of ONTD users posting macros, rude comments and asking Y U MAD THO? x_x
