Website Update
Feb. 16th, 2009 08:54 pmI'm working on redesigning my website. It should be live within a day or so, so I would appreciate it if you would take a look and tell me if it looks fine on both 1024x768 and higher resolutions.
I was going for a more grungy, rustic look, and I think I came close. There were some glitches that popped up occasionally, but I think I caught them all. At least I think so.
::shameless plug:: Also, if you're thinking about getting a website, I would recommend hosting it with Traverse Global Web Hosting, which is a highly professional web hosting service. I received a year of free hosting from them in return for advertising, and if I can get someone else to sign up, I get another one. ^_^ ::end shameless plug::
And honestly, I have only praise for them; even though I'm not paying them, they've always answered my questions promptly and helped with setting up my site.
I intend to keep myself busy - which shouldn't be difficult since I have a seminar paper to present on Saturday, and I'm itching to make some wallpapers.
You should expect some activity on this journal soon.

Date: 2009-02-16 09:12 pm (UTC)That's what's difficult when a loved one leaves us suddenly: though it's easier on them to go quickly, it leaves an emptiness in those who are left behind. With my mother it wasn't unexpected, but it still felt like somebody twisted a knife in my side. Even after she took her last breath I kept waiting to see her take another one.
I cried then, but not much after that. I almost never cry about serious things, though a sad movie can make me bawl like a baby. I guess it's a self-protection mechanism brought about by the war. None of us cry very much.
:sigh: I don't want to make you even more sad than you are, so I think this is the time to tell you you can check out the site. I think all the files are uploaded now...

Date: 2009-02-16 09:23 pm (UTC)The website looks good to me! I've uploaded a screencap of what I see here just to give you an idea of what it looks like on my res.
My only suggestion would be to make the sidebar background wider so that it expands to the right hand edge.....

Date: 2009-02-16 09:33 pm (UTC)Oh my.
That is some WIDE widescreen! I've been trying to get the footer to expand, too; but no luck: there's something somewhere in the css that's keeping it from expanding all the way. The sidebar is set at that width, and while it touches the right hand edge of my desktop monitor, it has a nice extra space on my laptop (which is widescreen, but not THAT wide!).
Unfortunately, the layout is a fixed width one, and every time I try to mess with width, it all goes to hell in a handbasket. I'll have to see if I can crack the css enough to come up with a compromise solution. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Date: 2009-02-16 09:36 pm (UTC)I think it's something like 1440x900 res, which is pretty unusual. But I have the same problem with layouts that I download. Which is why most of my layouts are very simple but designed by me!!
