I'll be eternally grateful to whoever comes up with a cure for insomnia. I tried everything, but nothing seems to work. I finally got up, turned on my computer and started fiddling with Photoshop. The result is below:

Yes, I imagine he's had to be tough from an early age. How fans go from "Look at how competent this man is" to "Aw, poor baby!" still baffles me, though there's been some discussion on [livejournal.com profile] epic_rants that these stories are usually written by young fans and they're basically You'll All Be Sorry when you realize how terribly you mistreated me.

:sighs: I'm conflicted, because it's so damn exhausting and I don't need this when I have a major exam on the 20th, but at least I made something, so I gas Yay? for that.

(something to be happy about: the external examiners are gone! Woot!)

Well, if you look at poor widdle fragile Blair Sandburg (who takes out terrorists with a snack machine in his first day on the job :), Daniel Jackson (who insults magalomaniac aliens for fun), Spencer Reid (who managed to outthink a psychopath while tortured and drugged)... the list goes on. I've even seen it with Avon (Blakes 7) who would slaughter anyone who tried to 'poor baby' him, without turning a hair. And Rodney Mckay, who is canonically armoured with a steel plate of sheer ego.

In some way I can see the appeal, it is tied to the appeal of h/c and comfort fics, but I firmly believe that you can trash them without turning them into frail and fragile (and wet and weedy weedy) flowerlets...
