Go pink for October

You all know I lost my mother to cancer and how much that affected me. I will never get over that, and I hope that thinking about her will be easier.

The month of October is considered to be a breast cancer awareness month. For the duration of this month, I will change my default icon to that of a pink ribbon, and I will include some graphics and links in my sidebar to places promoting this event. I hope you will do the same. At the end of October they will be moved to my profile to be brought out again next year.

As time allows, I will also try to find links to interesting articles and events. It is my goal to make as many women aware of this as possible.

I wish you all the best, and that you never know the pain of losing a loved one in such a way.

I'm changing my default icon as well.

Not in regard to breast cancer but other cancers. My father, Grandmother and Uncle all died of cancer and I have another Uncle with cancer - and even though she wasn't human, my dog, who I had to put down because she had cancer.

I'm all for supporting cancer awareness.

I am so sorry to hear that. :hugs you tight: I hope everything turns out for the best for your uncle. I've always felt our pets deserve every bit of love and respect for what they offer us, and should be remembered as well.

So very sorry about your mother - and so on board with your wish to promote awareness. My dear cousin has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. It's shattering for everyone and my heart goes out to you and your family.

Thank you. The loss is so very fresh - she passed away in January, and my father, who has a heart condition, took it very hard. My sister lives with him, and I'm in another town, so it's especially difficult.

I am so very sorry for your cousin. I hope the diagnosis will not destroy the will to fight. My mother fought until her very last breath.
