Adding friends on Pottermore
Sep. 11th, 2011 02:46 pmSo what's the etiquette of adding friends on Pottermore? Do you just accept any friend requests, or do you have to know the person sending the request? Since I'm new to the fandom, I don't really know anyone there, and have no way of connecting those usernames with the ones I'm familiar with. Anyone have ay experience with it? Or are there any of you I might know over there?

Is there some way for you to do same for Pottermore?

Someone assured me that only way to keep them out of my journal was to lock it, but it would mean not meeting some of the people who have become friends as a result of an public jouirnal entry.
**sighs**
It seems you cannot win this game without taking casualties

Well, in any case, it's not like I have invested years in this fandom; I'm at the stage where everything's new and curious, and maybe in a while I won't be interested anymore, But right now I want to see what's going on, I just have to remind myself not to expect things to be the same as here.

Had it not been, I would not have hung around for six years....
Hard for me to believe.

Date: 2011-09-11 10:54 pm (UTC)So, in the Pottermore Hogwarts there are also four Houses like in the books. These are the numbers:
Gryffindor - 31,475 points, 77,116 members
Ravenclaw - 33,174 points, 77,437 members
Hufflepuff - 30,076 points, 77,162 members
Slytherin - 33,232 points, 76,404 members
So, we're the House with the lowest member count, yet the highest number of points. (I don't see anywhere on the page how many points a House is supposed to earn before winning the House Cup.)

Date: 2011-09-11 11:13 pm (UTC)Yeah, that's what I do here as well. On Pottermore, for one thing, I haven't been involved with the fandom so I don't know the people, and also, you choose your username out of five that are offered to you (mine is RiverRook) so that point of reference is gone too. There is a profile, but it only shows where you are in relation to exploring the book and gathering points (you're supposed to collect items as you read along, brew potions and take part in duels to earn points); there are no text notes where you can share something about yourself.
There is also absolutely no personal interaction: you can leave a comment on a board in the common room, but no one can reply to it unless they make a comment of their own and address you by your username. I signed on mostly out of curiosity to see how it would all work out, and it is not what I expected. It is so strange after being used to mailing lists and journal sites like LiveJournal and Dreamwidth.
