I took the plunge and bought myself a netbook. It was getting more and more difficult to juggle my 15" laptop, 40+ handouts for students, their assignments written in class, plus any homework assignments they thought to print out and bring to class.
It's a ViewSonic 10" netbook, who I'm told make good monitors, displays, digital photo frames and such. It didn't come with a lot of software, which is good. It has Windows 7 Starter, plus a trial version of Office. I will most likely uninstall it and install OpenOffice. I've already installed Firefox and Thunderbird, most of my e-book readers, 7zip and Foxit Reader. I'll have to see if there's anything else I will need. Any suggestions?
Oh! What's a good comics viewer program? Simple, free, no muss, no fuss.

Date: 2010-11-08 10:28 pm (UTC)For comics, I always use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDisplay. I have a copy of it in my mediafire folder. Should be the same link as the Push comics....

Date: 2010-11-09 01:25 am (UTC)Hm, for a comic reader I use this. And I would suggest Dropbox if you plan to move files back and forth. It's hard to explain and I didn't even know about it until one of the producers of Leverage (on his blog, Kung-fu Monkey) talked about how useful it was. I tried it and I was hooked. Here's a referral which will net an extra 250 MBs of storage space if you decide you like it. The first 2GBs of space is free. (Free is always nice!)

Date: 2010-11-09 03:29 pm (UTC)You can get a higher limit, but the price rises, and it's not affordable for someone like me, only big companies. A more viable option would be to get an external hard drive.
And thank you! I love it so far. :)

Date: 2010-11-09 05:31 pm (UTC)...I had the "Screen comments from non-friends" in my settings! It was probably set during that time of facebook reposts. See, and this is another reasons why those things are not goo. You set something up, forget about it, and then wonder when your journal starts following your settings! All fixed now; only anon comments will be screened from now on.
