Renaming?

I renamed my LJ yesterday, and am thinking about renaming this one too. That would include retiring my default icon too, since it would no longer be relevant to my intended username. For the time being, I will use the pink ribbon as my default.

Sorry! I just felt I needed to do this because of some disparaging comments about fans in RL. Not that I think anything would come out of it, (and those who really want to find you, will) but still, it's more for my own peace of mind. LJ and DW are both my safe, fannish places online, and I don't want them compromised in some way.

Oh no, it's more, LOL look at those people who talk about actors and movies online, they have no life asdkfjl!

It's annoying, and I want to remove myself from any comments they might make if thy stumbled to one of my spaces. :)

Ahhh, fair enough :) My usernames have always been a little removed from my RL identity, but I still get nervous occasionally!

It's ironic since these comments come from people who go to football games covered in scarves and colours of their favorite team, and who can discuss the finer points of penalties, players and goalies in detail. :facepalm:

I was young and naive when I created my first username, and then carried it on out of habit. I must say it feels a little strange with a new identity. I suppose the next thing you know, I'll get the urge to change my journal layout. o_O

So what does Valiha mean?

The name comes from the Gaea Series written by John Varley. The individual books are Titan, Wizard, and Demon. This particular character is a young Titanide called Valiha (Aeolian Solo) Madrigal. Valiha is her first name, (Aeolian Solo) is the manner of conception [this particular one means that Valiha is a clone of her mother], and Madrigal is the chord which corresponds to a human clan or family name and is usually a musical form. This is because Titanides are very music oriented species, their language is song, and while pregnant, the mothers consult with their offspring on what instrument they will make for them and then use that instrument as the name for their child.

Valiha itself is a musical instrument.

It's at times a strange book, but it's one of my favorites, and Valiha is one of my favorite fictional characters.
