I just had to do this, seeing as how so many on my flist are doing it! I left answers on [livejournal.com profile] ithildyn, [livejournal.com profile] winks7985 and [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7's pages, and you can leave yours here, I'd love to know more about you:

Hey Flist!
Some of you I know extremely well (you know who you are), but others I know very little about. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so... she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well.) Then post this in your own journal. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.

About Me: I will always pick things that are purple or pink in colour, over any other. Followed by blue. I almost never pick green things (despite that being my hubby's favourite colour) because my high school uniform was green and it put me off for life!

Question: If you could marry any one fictional character, who would it be?

My last name 'Grach' literally means 'Rook' (as in a black bird) in Russian, so I never had a problem with inventing a nickname or pen name in any fandom:). The first person, though, who started use the surname as a nickname, was my Math teacher in school, a middle-aged woman (I was close with her daughter at the time, visited her rather often). These days, even the kids of my close friends call me 'auntie Rook', sometimes shocking 'normal' people around:).

We say "gavran", so there's some similarity there. :) It is definitely a cool pen-name for any fandom or original fiction, depending on one's preference. Hee, I can see how Auntie Rook would be a shocker to some! :)

i broke out of my shell when i joined a colorguard (like a dance team) as a teenager. i was in colorguard for 6 years, and was captain one year of that. and here i am today.

:) And my sister chooses blue over any other color!

That is... actually a very difficult question. I'm not sure any of the fictional characters I like are permanent marriage material. :) Or maybe they are but I wouldn't want to marry them. I'd probably be a serial monogamist! :D

Who to choose, who to choose?! Does it have to be one?? Can I get back to you on that??

OMG so was I! I had difficulty making friends in elementary school, until the pupils discovered I could draw, and tried to get me to do their drawings for class. I must admit there were times I took advantage of that. :evil grin:

I still haven't broken out of my shell in "real life"; I find it easier to interact with people online. The war is to blame, naturally; we spent years in hiding, with no social interaction with other kids.

Why Dick Grayson? The only thing I know about him is that he is (was??) Robin, correct? What makes him special?

And of all the characters to think of while I was trying to find the answer to your question, I thought of Ryan. From Cellular. And it's not because he looks like Chris Evans (honest!); it's because of his willingness to do all those crazy insane things to help a total stranger that could have been pulling a prank on him.

Oh, oh, and also! I just thought of another one! Now, I prefer darker haired men with light eyes, but for some reason, I have a major crush on Gabriel Macht.

There's this movie he's been in, called "Because I Said So", a goofy, silly, wacky movie about an overbearing mother who gives out an add trying to find a boyfriend for her daughter. Gabriel plays a guy the daughter finds on her own, and I liked him because he was witty, warm, open, not to mention cute.

So what does that say about me? I want someone who can protect me and make me laugh. :D Being hot doesn't hurt, of course. I can't think of a single fictional character that fits that description at the moment.

(I probably will think of someone soon and go, Duh, of course!)

Yep, Dick Grayson was the first Robin, then Nightwing, then (for a while) Batman. In my mind, he's the more human side of Batman - he has the strength and morals of Batman, but managed to use his parents murder to make him a better person, rather than just looking for constant revenge like the Bat does. He loves so completely and whole-heartedly, even if he never quite succeeds at relationships - which is only because his work as the city's protector means so much to him. When the whole city fell apart during an earthquake, his first port of call, despite his need to save people, was to Barbara Gordon, the love of his life. ♥

Sorry, I get a little sappy about Dick :) And, of course, he's gorgeous!

Speaking of which, that guy you posted the pic of is pretty hot too! LOL!

I can see why he would be your choice. I think he would be mine too, if I was a little more familiar with him.

And yes, Gabriel is really very attractive. I think it's his smile that makes me melt. It's just so... contagious and warm and... I don't know, hypnotizing? Just seeing him smile brings a smile to my own face.

I was shy too! I think a lot of people on LJ probably were. But part of the reason I was shy is because I had a speech problem and couldn't even say my name. Had problems with R's and S's. Like someone would ask what my name was, and I'd have to repeat myself 5 times, which was embarrassing. My mom said the only reason she didn't send me to Catholic school is because the public school had an on-site speech therapist, which I saw a few times a week. I for one am really glad I didn't go to Catholic school, where I would have had to wear a skirt everyday, and learn about creation instead of evolution! Oh, and I don't remember a single kid ever teasing me about my speech problem, so I had a pretty happy childhood.

What else... I would eat red pepper alfredo pasta with veggies everyday if I could!

I studied Architecture in college for 1 in half years between changing majors.

Hm, something terribly random?

I used to surf (longboard) when I was a teenager. I don't anymore. I do still bodyboard, though.
I was never able to pass my last Japanese (language) exam. I have given up and would like to learn Russian next. I'm a little worried I may not pass that, either.
I have run amok all over the pyramids in Mexico. They changed my life.

OK, so you want to share three random things back? :)

I'm engaged to be engaged!

On our two year anniversary a few days ago, my boyfriend gave me a letter which said he loved me and would, in 99 days, ask me to be his wife. Up until then, he's going to give me a letter a day.

But now I'm halfway between engaged and not engaged and I don't know what to do! :) Silly boy. And I can't tell anyone anything (because there's nothing to tell! I'm not engaged!) and it's driving me just a bit crazy... so thanks for letting me tell you! :)

I know nothing of Scottish Dance performance groups. Will definitely have to look it up to what it's like.

I love wolves and orcas too! I'm indifferent to hedgehogs, I'm afraid. I once watched a documentary which showed how a fox pees on a hedgehog she wants him to uncurl so she can grab and eat him. Doesn't always work, of course. It left me with an image of hedgehogs going around smelling of fox pee! Totally daft, I know.

The head of our department has a pronounced stutter. It didn't stop her from earning a masters in linguistics and teaching English as a second language, and she's a damn good teacher too. One of my own cousins had a speech problem and went to a therapist for a long time.

I just looked up alfredo pasta: looks delicious!

One of my professors speaks Japanese. She also speaks Russian, Swahili, French, German, Bosnian, and can understand a couple of other languages. I iz envious!

Three random things from me:

- I have always wanted to visit Machu Picchu, in spite of my tremendous fear of heights.

- I have problems with even the simple mathematical concepts. Most likely discalculia, but people here can't recognize dislexia, so I'm not surprised when they accuse me of faking it.

- Animals: I have always wanted to have a dog, but the closest I ever came to that was my hunter cousin who kept his dog in an enclosure in our back yard. Rex was a hoot to play with. :) Over the years, I've been owned by three cats, one before and during the war, and two (mother and daughter) after. When I was a girl, I wanted to be a horse doctor, and was drawn to westerns (my dad's favorite genre) because horses were on screen a lot of the time. Pretty mens came later. :)

[OK, technically, that's more than three things. :) ]

Some random things about me. When not playing with the graphics program on the computer or trying to write(slow as a snail), I enjoy playing Bejeweled 2 Zen mode. I also liked to embroider but don't do it anymore. And I like to sing along(off tune mostly) with the radio.

Ooh, I'd love to see some of those designs! Your reason for designing houses is the exact reason I love drawing. With all the stress that I've been under lately, concentrating on a drawing is very soothing.

Unfortunately, I've been very limited in my travels because of the war, and then my financial situation after wasn't very good. Even if it was, visa requirements severely limited our possible destinations. I guess my favorite place to travel to is my home town, but I'd love to visit the major cultural sites of the world.

I actually don't think the speech therapist helped me that much, it was just me talking more.

Ooo, that's the pasta sauce I always buy! When it's on sale, I stock up. :D I sautee garlic, zucchini, asparagus, onions and red pepper and then add it to the sauce. So yummy.

Yes, I changed to Graphic Design. :) I took one semester of web design, because that's all they had back then. I never took any photo classes, because they were too expensive.

Yes, I'm doing better; thank you for asking! I'm afraid that I've been unbelievably busy with the start of the new semester (I just spent a whole day writing lectures for the next couple of weeks). We had our second yearly visit from the External Examiners and had to prepare all the coursework and exams for review, and before I knew it, it was time to order new books for the semester.

I barely know what my name is these days, and I'm sad to say that my inspiration has completely dried up for now, hence no posting. Hopefully that will change soon.

I was worried about a relapse too, since the flu left me feeling pretty week. It doesn't help that the temperature keeps fluctuating from freezing cold to positively balmy, and it's not good for my throat. I sometimes start coughing and it's difficult to stop, but I was told that was to be expected for a little while still.

What about you? How are things at work? And kitties! Since I can't have any due to my aunt's allergy, I enjoy reading about them. :)
