Windows Live Writer
Nov. 18th, 2010 11:21 amI set my netbook to perform automatic updates, but to ask me if I want to download and install them. One of the updates was Windows Live Essentials, which included Windows Live Writer. So I said, OK, why not, I’ve been testing other blogging clients, I’ll test this one too.
Looking at the controls, it’s not at all set up for LJ or DW. It doesn’t support LJ cuts, I can’t add LJ usernames easily without using the html editor, and I can’t enter music and moods which I use extensively. I can insert a picture from my computer, from the web, an online gallery I already have, or I can create one and insert a photo from there.
It seems like WLW has some plugins, but they don’t look very useful – at least to me and my usage. I’m sure there are people out there who use them, otherwise they wouldn’t have been made. But I’d love to know if there’s anyone on my flist who uses it and knows how to set it up to work well with LJ/DW.
(One thing that’s cute is that you can use emoticons in your post, though I imagine it’s easy to go overboard with them. They even have a goat. I will call him Frank. )
