It's odd, but this year I haven't even once wished to check out the movies they're showing at the Sarajevo Film Festival, in spite of the fact that Mike Leigh's movie "Another Year" will be shown and that Morgan Freeman is apparently going to be the guest of honor. I love that man, but I don't feel the urge to go there and snap my camera in his face and squee like a teenage girl I'm not. I don't know, maybe it's because our attitude towards actors is different? Though that's changing; there are more and more "celebrity magazines" on the newstands and TV, and I feel quite uncomfortable buying newspapers in the morning and coming face to face with magazine covers of the type such-and-such is cheating on her husband OMG! these two actors are getting it on backstage! this musician is a druggie! I generally know very little of my favorite actors/actresses, and it mostly comes from hearing about it while channel-surfing rather than deliberate information seeking.

If any of you guys is interested in maybe following the goings-on, the SFF has a Facebook page, with posts in English.

I've never really felt a need to do the in-person squee-ing thing, either. That's one big reason why I don't like the idea of going to the more "big name" conventions... most of them are structured around meeting some celebrity or other, and it just makes me feel squicky.

I know in my brain that the actors are there doing their job and ought to not mind all the crazy, but when I imagine going myself, I always get a "crazy stalker lady" embarrassment twinge in my gut.
