I'm very happy to present a project I took part in several years ago.  It is a book on Traditional arts and crafts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project was conducted as a part of the UNESCO's effort to catalog many interesting arts and crafts, some of which were becoming very rare or extinct.  I worked closely with the project photographer, Norbert Heyl as his interpreter and assistant, and we traveled a great deal of Bosnia and Herzegovina in our research.

Once the project was finished, it was planned that each participant would get a hard copy of the book, but the funds were scarce so we received a .pdf version.  I had mentioned the book to [livejournal.com profile] pezgirl7  and she expressed the desire to see it.  I agreed, and said I'd send it to her ASAP, and decided to check on what's going on with the book.  Imagine my surprise when I saw that it had been made available online!

I'd be happy if you decided to download the book and spend some time glancing at the photos, and in order to show you what's there, I'll include this picture:

Well, thank you for the compliment! And please, feel free to redistribute the book further. There's no need to worry about piracy or anything like that since the book is available at the UNESCO web site. You can even forward the link to Tony's agency! ^_^

I wasn't there for all the sections, there were several of us working as a team, but I remember Norbert setting up various shoes and tools just so, before taking a picture. I'm so happy you like it! I have some fond memories of that time. And yes, it's very exciting! It was completely unexpected, you know, since I was just a part of the team, and we all worked hard.

Well, I'll leave you to enjoy the book!

Thank you so much, I'm happy you like it! I love that room, it is gorgeous. When you do, you'll find plenty more interesting things made of various materials. It's definitely a sight to see.

Absolutely beautiful!

I would love to have an entire home that looked like this. Beautiful.

You said it's traditional arts and crafts ... Is this in a home or a art museum?

I agree! I would too, but it would be very costly, both to make and to keep. It's how homes of the wealthy used to look like, while ordinary people had a little less extravagant homes.

Yes, it's traditional, but it's still being made. This particular room is a show room in a shop called Mulicev Rekord located in the small town of Konjic. The link will take you to their page, and you don't need to understand the language, just follow the images wherever they take you! ^_^

They make all types of furniture for sale. It's a family trade, passed down from father to son for generations (it was founded in 1929, but the area has a vast wood carving tradition).

:sigh: I know what you mean... Wish my room was like that. Unfortunately, for now I must only settle for photographs...
