Banners and world clock

Hi there!

I haven't been posting much lately, but that's due to depression over being separated from my laptop :sniff: - it has all my graphic programs, which means I can't make any new wallies and banners. I have no idea when I will get it back, or if they'll just give me another one instead.

But, even though my desktop is too overcrowded with other programs, I decided to do something about finishing the two banners I promised. I found that GIMPshop is a lightweight program similar enough to Photoshop that I won't be completely lost trying to use it. I installed it today when I got back from work and have been poking and prodding it, getting to know the layout. It still feels a bit awkward, but I prefer spending some time learning about it, and then using it while I wait for my laptop to come back from the shop, then just sit around twirling my thumbs.

Moving on: I've been trying to find a way to post a world clock widget to [livejournal.com profile] 7men1destiny as a sort of a sticky note, but it seems I can't post backdated entries in a non-personal journal. Therefore I'm posting the link here for [livejournal.com profile] quietcontrary to use and see if she can do it instead. You could then use it to choose your location and see what time the rewatch starts in your part of the world (and dang I wish I could participate more!). Anybody's free to use the code for their own pages as well.

The link to the page is World Clock.

Under Get Widget, click on More, and choose code for LiveJournal. It can't be pasted into the sidebar, only in an entry. Still, when you're dealing with timezones, it's a great tool. It would be ideal if they could make it smaller and fit into the sidebar, but LJ has javascript restrictions in place.

That's all for now, and I hope I'll be posting the banners soon - as well as some new artwork!

Great idea for the clock; it's very nice of you to go to all that trouble to find a way. I do hope you get your laptop back soon.

I do too! It's so strange being without it. I use it do do all my school work, prepare lectures, enter books into the library database (I perform duties of a librarian in addition to teaching), plus use it to make my graphics. I've become totally dependent on it, even more so than my desktop! And we only have one computer in the Library, so we take turns to use it.

Wow, the laptop really sounds indispensible. All sorts of uses and I do hope you get it back all fixed very soon.
