Haven't come across a satisfactory image search engine, but since I often do photo research for clients I might know of one or more online image archives that would do. What particular image(s) are you looking for?
I was searching for a man looking out the window, preferably older, with his face not/barely visible. I tried Google, Yahoo, as well as sxc.hu but couldn't find an appropriate image. :(
Because it's providing me with results that have nothing to do with my search, like today when I searched for man looking out the window and got Worf as one of the results! And he wasn't even looking out any windows, just standing there looking all Klingon-y. I also just plain don't like the scrolling page, and images that pop out if I hover my cursor over them, whether I do it purposely or not.
OK, that elzr.com search? Fantastic. Each and every image fit the criteria. (It sucks that a lot of them are from istockphoto!) picsearch lso gave me images of cats, women and dogs looking out windows instead of men, but it might do. Thank you!
I would suggest that if you have a few friends who use stock photos a lot, to maybe split a membership amongst you because they can be expensive (but useful). Have you ever tried cooliris? There is also an app for Firefox (if you use it).
It breaks down a google search into images only and parades them on an endless 3d wall which can be helpful if you prefer to browse (like I do) through actual pics rather than thumbnails. Good luck! :)
I don't know of anyone else who does wallpapers; most Mag7 people make icons. I usually rely on my screencaps, sxc.hu and textures from texturize and hgx, but this piece called for some very specific photos.
I'm afraid I had to disable Cooliris! I was getting too distracted by it. :) I might have to try it again later. Thank you for all the pointers!
