Soundtrack cover

As I was clearing out my pictures folder, I came across the covers I had made for the Magnificent Seven soundtrack that was available some time ago on one of the sites (I think it might have been magnificent7.com but I'm not sure; I think the site is not defunct).

If I remember correctly, it was prepared by the composer Don Harper and the Producer John Watson, and offered on that page as a free download for fans.  I had downloaded it, and kept it on my computer as mp3 files because I only had a CD-ROM at the time, but once I got a burner, I made myself an audio CD.  The next step was to make the cover!

So, as the continuation of the covers theme on my LJ, I present to you Mag7 OST covers:

Thanks! I tried to find the original pictures I used to make the covers, but I must have deleted them. I don't even know where I found them.

I believe I do; I would have to rip them to my computer first and find a place I could upload them to, but it could be done. I still want to ask around to see if anybody remembers where the original download was located.

ETA Thank heavens for Wayback! The original offering comes from The Watering Hole, run by Lissa Grinstead, which has unfortunately been completely redone (all the links lead to pages that are under construction). The .zip file is no longer available.

So, what I'm going to do is try to contact Lissa and first see if she's willing to re-upload the files. If not, look for another flocked post.

I have a set of the mp3's and I can host them at mag7wiki.org if you'd like....

(The site is still under construction, but is online)

That would be cool! That way we wouldn't have to worry about the links expiring, which is always a danger with storage sites. Do you have enough space to host them?

And I didn't even know we had a wiki for the Mag7! It looks good. (Just a minor quibble: if you could correct Anthony Stark into Starke :) )

Plenty of space, not a problem :)

And it's something I just started a few weeks ago.

D'oh! Been reading too much Iron Man recently obviously! Changing the link now :)

:hee hee:

It would have been great if they had cast Tony Starke as Tony Stark!

The wiki looks like it's going to be a great resource once it's finished. I just saw something that was new to me: the name of the Seminole chief is listed as Fire Eagle, and I remember seeing Tastanagi somewhere. Where did you find the name?

[identity profile] kayim.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Tastanagi came from Zeke Blacks website, I believe.
http://zekeblack.slashcity.org/m7/m7hb.html

I've not seen his name listed anywhere else, and it's not in the transcript. I'm now wondering if it's mentioned in the end credits or something......

Feel free to add/edit things on the wiki - it's there for everyone to contribute to!

The name for the Seminole chief is Tastanagi. It is in the original script of the pilot.

Also, the description of Buck's character in the opening paragraph as taken from the old MGM site is totally off. Womanizing, I will grant you, though I wouldn't describe him thus. However, Buck is not "hard-drinking" (at least no more so than any of the seven except perhaps JD) and he is not Irish. That description may stem back to the original intent, which was to kill Buck in the pilot and replace him with Daragh O'Malley's ex-confederate sergeant, Francis Corcoran.

Oh, I completely agree about the MGM description, but I wanted to keep it somewhere on the wiki for historical purposes :) LOL! I might remove all the descriptions to their own page...

Done! Can I add your cover art to the page? With credit, obviously!

Hi Kim, I just heard from Lissa, and the main reason she removed the link to the soundtrack was because of bandwith theft. Are you concerned about that? I had been thinking of making an flocked post or maybe setting up a password protected download. I don't know if you had something similar in mind, or if you're worried about it at all. Let me know when you can.

It should be okay, to be honest. I have a lot of bandwidth - but I'll keep an eye on it! Thanks for the warning!
